11 weeks

11 weeks!  I turned the 11 week corner on Monday, so I'm a little late posting.  My bad!  As you can see I'm getting thicker but feeling great!  I am still wearing my normal clothes, but I just look fat at this point if you didn't know I was preggo.  So, taking note now to wear looser items.

Anyway, the headaches aren't as bad this week but I've been taking it easy.  No yard work and only 2 days of walking/jogging so far.  I got a heart rate monitor and there is no way I will be able to jog long distances for a while, which is frustrating.  I don't know why, but the Dr.s tell you that your heart rate needs to stay under 140.  When I run my heart rate hovers around 150-160ish, so I've been doing intervals of walking and jogging.  I just want to keep jogging because I feel good, but I know I probably shouldn't - I'm so selfish!  So, I just speed walk, but don't expect to see me with sweat bands or ankle weights any time soon ;)

Here are some articles that make me want to ignore the 140 cap
here and here
but here's a link that makes me scared again :(
Any opinions or advice out there?

My 12 week appointment is next Friday so I probably will not update again until after that :)  I still don't know if we are going to find out the sex or not!?  EEk!  We still have a month or so though to decide.  Oh, another little tidbit that's going on is that my sinuses are going crazy - as in, I cannot breath very well at night.  Also, I've been doing a lot of reading since I've been relaxing and resting more AND because Luke has started studying for the 8 hour Professional Engineer's (P.E.) test that will go down in October.  Yikes!  In addition to reading "Calm my Anxious Heart" I just finished the 4th book in Karen Kingsbury's Redemption series...so good!  The 5th novel will be the last of the series, so I need some new options :)

Update on Nursery thoughts: I found this link recently and it holds some VERY cute accessories that I might include in the nursery.  I still don't have a "for sure" picture in my head of what it will look like, but I do like a neutral backdrop with pops of color and randomness.  We all know I like random.  So, here are a few eclectic items that would be fun to include, but may not make the cut:
Oh.my. these are just so fun!  And they are all reasonably priced items:

Chandelier-Ikea $29.99
Mirror-Pier One $179.99
Pillow-Target $24.99
Microsuede Toy Box-Walmart $99.88
Rug-Anthropolgie $78
Flower Knob-Anthropologie $6 ea

  1. I LOVE all your nursery ideas. They are not your typical nursery and I plan to go the same route when the time comes. Out of the items you've picked, I would go with the rug, the knobs and the chandelier for sure (if it's a girl).

I don't know if you read Dooce or not, but I love the nursery she did for her second daughter, especially the wallpaper and the 3d flowers on the wall.

  2. If you still haven't decided come ultrasound time whether or not to find out the baby's sex, bring an envelope with you and have the technician put the gender picture in the envelope. That would buy you a little time in the "find out/don't find out" decision.

As for the books. I love everything I've ever read by Karen Kingsbury - stick with her! I also liked Terri Blackstock's Restoration series. All of those titles have "light" in it. "Last Light" is the first one, I think. Those are the only Blackstock books I've read, but I really enjoyed them.

  3. ok so I just laughed when I read this "I am still wearing my normal clothes, but I just look fat at this point if you didn't know I was preggo." because you are TINY! Just wait till you're 9 months pregnant, you'll think you look anorexic in that picture! :)

  4. Thanks Crystal! I'm having fun thinking of "not your normal nursery." I really like this abacus on CB2 as well. The walls in the nursery are already dark gray and I would paint a section white, put molding around it, and hang this abacus in the middle of it, but that's a maybe ;)

Valerie - Luke is really pushing me to find out, so I guess we will :) But that's a good idea! I really like Kingsbury's work too!!

Jess - praying for you today!! You know the way I feel I'm sure, but I can see where you are coming from!
