Guest Bedroom

This past weekend Luke so diligently helped me get some house projects done.  We worked on the dining room chairs (post to come) and the guest bedroom - rearrange furniture and paint the computer desk.  I have been itching to get some things done since being in and out of town over the past month or so.

Luke is so handy!  We took his childhood desk and painted it black and added some crystal knobs.  It has been in our guest bedroom where we have also spray painted an old wooden bed that was handed down AND spray painted our old brass dining room chandelier and hung it in the guest bedroom.  And when we initially moved in Luke stripped the carpet in the room and refinished the hardwoods.  I am so impressed with him!  Hopefully Ashley, Geoff, and Greer will approve :)  They are staying with us this weekend, and we will get to watch Greer for 2 nights!

BEFORE:

Here are the results...painted desk black, installed knobs, wrapped the old ugg box in wrapping paper for desk storage.  I really want to put 2 of those mirrors (instead of just one) over the bed, but Luke doesn't want to clutter...what are your thoughts?  Also, you can see a wall hinge lamp laying on the bed...considered hanging that beside the bed, but again, too cluttered?

If not the mirrors then should I do this iron piece above the bed?

I think Pip likes it at least ;)

  1. It looks great! What kind of paint did you use? I've painted furniture once, and the books always stick to the shelf.

  4. Thanks guys! I just used black matte spray paint - on the chandelier, bed, desk, and even on our queen anne dining room chairs. I like the cans that have the directional nozzle. You can make the spray line vertical or horizontal.
